The Dover Police Department is reportedly investigating an allegation of domestic assault that involves NASCAR driver Kurt Busch, according to USA Today.
There have been no charges made yet after the allegations surfaced regarding Kurt Busch and the department has reportedly started that it would not comment further while it is still investigating the victim's claims. His ex-girlfriend, Patricia Driscoll, reportedly stated that the allegations involved an incident inside his motorhome at a race, according to the Associated Press.
Driscoll has reportedly filed court documents requesting Busch to stay away from her and her son Houston, according to the AP. She also reportedly wants the driver to be evaluated by a psychiatrist and a certified domestic violence treatment agency.
"He was verbally abusive to her and said he wished he had a gun so that he could kill himself," documents say.
36-year-old Busch reportedly accused Driscoll of "having spies everywhere and having a camera on the bus to watch him." The domestic assault allegations were reportedly made after Kurt Busch grabbed Driscoll by her face and smashed her head three times against the wall next to the bed, documents stated.
36-year-old Driscoll reportedly pushed the driver away from her and fled the bedroom to a neighboring motorhome.
NASCAR reportedly stated that it was aware of the investigation involving Busch.
"We recognize the seriousness of this matter and are actively gathering information from all parties, including law enforcement authorities and Stewart-Haas Racing," stated NASCAR chief communication officer Brett Jewkes.
He continued, "It would be inappropriate for NASCAR to comment further on this matter until we have more information."
