Google Doodles Berlin Wall Anniversary Celebrations, Sign Of 'Human Yearning' For Freedom, Says Chancellor Merckel
Google Doodles Berlin Wall Anniversary Celebrations .On Sunday, Germany and German Chancellor Angela Merkel celebrated the fall of the Berlin Wall 25 years ago. The festivities at the Berlin Wall Anniversary included a 15-kilometre trail of lighted balloons. For Germans, the celebration was a crucial era when communism that divided East and West Germany merged into a singular force in Europe. And Google didn't waste any time getting into the celebrations with its own Google Doodles Berlin Wall Anniversary Celebrations.
The balloons will be lighted across the marked border and released at around Sunday evening, when the actual fall of the Berlin Wall occurred on Nov. 9, 1989.
In sync with the Berlin Wall Anniversary, Google Doodle celebrated the 25th anniversary of fall of the Berlin Wall. Google's interactive illustration above is a video revealing the bringing down of the Berlin Wall of a barrier that kept families separated between East and West Germany for almost three decades.
The Google Doodle representation of the Berlin Wall Anniversary is a clip demonstrating "one Berlin resident chipping away at the hated structure with a chisel before the camera pans to a huge slab of concrete crashing to the ground to cheers from crowds on both sides of the man-made barrier," the Daily Mirror reports.
Chancellor Merkel called the downfall of the Berlin Wall, a good example of "human yearning" for freedom. She added that it was a time to honor those who fought to bring down the Wall destroying the Cold War symbol for 28 years.
Merckel was quoted by the Epoch Times, "The fall of the Wall has shown us that dreams can come true," Merkel said at the main memorial site for the Wall on Bernauer Strasse. "Nothing has to stay the way it is, however big the hurdles are." Google Doodles Berlin Wall Anniversary Celebrations highlighted the same message.
