So it looks like we haven't seen the last of Woody and Buzz Lightyear just yet! It's just been announced that even though Andy has grown up and has given up ownership of our favorite on-screen talking toys, that the movie and its cast of other well loved toys will retire too. Disney has officially confirmed that Toy Story 4 is a go, and that there is a brand new story awaiting Woody, Buzz and the rest of their toy friends.

The Toy Story 4 release date is slated for June 16, 2017. This good news was announced during a Disney earnings call last Thursday, and it was also confirmed that John Lasseter (Toy Story 1 and 2) will once again sit at the director's chair for this fourth outing of Woody and the gang. This brand new story by the same team that brought you the wonderful and touching adventures of the previous Toy Story films -- Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Lee Unkrich and Pete Docter. They will be joined in Toy Story 4 by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, with Galyn Susman as the producer.

It will be recalled that Lasseter was the man responsible for two successful Toy Story movies, the firs and the second, and he also is the man behind another loveable Disney movie, A Bug's Life. Lasseter is very much excited at the prospect of Toy Story 4. In a statement he has released, the director said, "We love these characters so much; they are like family to us/ We don't want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what's gone before. Toy Story 3 ended Woody and Buzz's story with Andy so perfectly that for a long time, we never even talked about doing another Toy Story movie. But when Andrew, Pete, Lee and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie-and I wanted to direct it myself."
