The Newsroom is being canned after just three seasons on the air. The Jeff Daniels starrer which airs on HBO will begin its final season this Sunday -- sad news for fans of the Aaron Sorkin show. But the big news is that along with The Newsroom season 3 being the final farewell of the show, is the goodbye of TV producer and screenwriter Aaron Sorkin.

Sorkin, who is the man behind the highly successful White House drama, The West Wing, has revealed that The Newsroom season 3 will also be his final series for television. He said, in an interview with the Los Angeles times, that he was ready to move on from television work. "I know the whole 'Never say never' stuff," said Sorkin. "But I'm pretty certain I'm about to write my last three episodes of television."

The prolific writer, who has previously earned an Academy Award for penning the script for David Fincher's The Social Network has insisted that The Newsroom season 3 is really his last bit of work for television. "I've loved every minute I've spent in television," Sorkin said. "And I've had much more failure, as traditionally measured, than success in television. I've done four shows, and only one of them was the West Wing."

It will be recalled that Sorkin's other TV projects include Sports Night, which aired on ABC for only two season, and NBC's Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip. Sorkin's next project is for the big screen, the brand new Steve Jobs biopic, which made headlines lately when its main star Christian Bale was reported to have dropped out of the role.

In the meantime, The Newsroom season 3 will be made up of only six episodes. Earlier in year, HBO big boss at programming Michael Lombardo gave his thoughts on The Newsroom and its final season run on the cable channel. "The Newsroom' is classic Aaron Sorkin - smart, riveting and thought-provoking. I'm sure this farewell season will be one to remember."

The Newsroom season 3 will feature returning stars Daniels, Munn, Emily Mortimer, Sam Waterston, Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Dev Patel and John Gallagher, Jr.and will premiere this November.
