Which tablet device is the ideal purchase? We compare the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 and the Asus Transformer Pad TF103C to see which device is better.
In terms of design and display, the Surface pro 3 has a body size of 29×20.1×9.1mm being made of metal, but users can easily access the home screen. Its display measures 12 inches ClearType HD with a resolution of 2160x1440pixels and 216ppi. There is also a light sensor which provides an excellent brightness and the screen allows multitouch.
The Transformer Pad TF103C supports an additional QWERTY keypad and the 10.1 inches IPS LCD display supports a resolution of 1280x800pixels and a pixel density of 149ppi. When using the tablet in the sunlight, users will notice that the screen isn’t bright enough, but the good thing about this tablet is that it supports multitouch for up to 10 fingers. Its dimensions are 257.4×178.4×9.9 mm and weighs 544 grams.
For the hardware and OS, the Surface Pro 3 comes in three variants of processors: i3 (3MB cache, clocked at 1.5GHz), i5 (3MB cache, clocked at 2.9GHz) and i7 (4MB cache, clocked at 3.3GHz) and has Intel HD Graphics GPU, perfect for gaming. It has 4 or 8GB of RAM and its built in storage is either 64GB, or 128GB, or 256GB and even 512GB. The tablet runs on the Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit OS.
Meanwhile, the Transformer pad TF103C features a quad-core 1.33GHz processor, based on an Intel Atom Z3745 chipset, and it couples with 1GB of RAM. It has an internal storage of 16GB (11GB out of the box) which can be expanded up to 64GB and runs on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS.
For the battery and camera specs, the Surface Pro 3 has a battery which supports around 9 hours of web browsing. The Transformer Pad TF103C’s non-removable Li-Po battery manages to lasts 8 hours and 20 minutes when browsing websites.
The Microsoft tablet has a 5MP camera on the back and another 5MP camera on the front, both recording videos at 1080p HD, but they lack flash. The Asus tablet has a mediocre camera on the back of 2MP and no camera on the front.
The Surface Pro 3 costs between $799 and $1949, depending on the CPU variant. The Asus Transformer Pad TF103C cost around $289.
