Google Nexus 6 Review: Motorola’s New Phablet Delivers With Great Specs, Also The New, Candied Android Lollipop OS; Holds Its Own Against Apple iPhone Plus And Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Google Nexus 6 review: Motorola's newest phablet lives up to expectations, with the new, candied Android Lollipop installed.

The Google Nexus 6 review confirms a competitor in the phablet slugfest, showcasing Android's new Lollipop OS in a solid, though wieldy mobile device.

The new Nexus 6 from Motorola competes with Apple's iPhone 6 Plus and Samsung Galaxy Note 4, though it's significantly wieldier than both due to the large display. It's about 6-inches diagonally and weighs 6.5 ounces, which may turn off users already uncomfortable with oversized smartphones.

The device makes the most out of the display, though, with crisp Quad HD and loud, clear front-facing stereo speakers. Heavy gamers will find the Nexus 6 a treat, with display that's also great for high-definition streaming and media.

Nexus 6 comes with a couple of firsts, notably its aluminum chassis and 13MP rear-facing camera. The pixel rate is reasonable, though still inferior compared to the iPhone 6 Plus. Optical image stabilization enhances photos taken in various light conditions.

The new Android Lollipop OS showcases the Google Nexus 6 specs, especially in display. The "material design" integrates color, effects, and lighting in a user interface that's fluid, and for lack of a better word, candied.

The main issue in the Google Nexus 6 review is its size, though. As with oversized phablets, using the device one-handed is a challenge, if not impossible.

"Just so I'm super clear: the only time you can really use this phablet one-handed is when you're just scrolling through a web page or an ebook with your thumb. For everything else, accept that it's a phablet and you're going to use two hands." (theverge.com)

Price points for unlocked units: at $649 (32GB storage), $699 (64GB). Users expecting a fingerprint scanner might be disappointed by the absence of the feature, though. (usatoday.com)
