Did a 'Frozen' actress sue Disney over getting only less than 1% than the film's massive profits? Spencer Lacey Ganus voiced the young Elsa in the blockbuster hit.
TMZ reported that the young actress received $926.20 from the film studio for her role, as stated in the contract that was filed in court.
With the movie having grossed more than $1 billion, the legal document went on to point out that the 15-year-old's one-day guaranteed payment is only 0.000077% off the film's overall earnings.
Ganus appeared in only two scenes in the animated film as the pre-teen Elsa before Broadway star Idina Menzel took over. The younger version was dubbed by Eva Bella.
It was initially reported by ABC 7 that the young actress was suing the company for a better cut but no lawsuit was filed in court.
Disney was also accused of stealing ideas from a New Jersey-based writer's autobiography. According to the lawsuit Isabella Tanikumi filed last September, 'Frozen,' was not based on Hans Christian Anderson's 1844 fairytale, 'The Snow Queen,' but on her life instead.
The Peruvian author sued the makers of 'Frozen' for $250 million for plagiarizing her life story from two of her published books, "Living My Truth" and "Yearnings of the Heart."
In response to Tanikumi's lawsuit, a Disney spokesperson reportedly told CNN, "This is beyond ridiculous, she needs to let it go."
Meanwhile, Disney reportedly has big plans for the billion-dollar megahit. The company has plans of producing merchandise for the franchise. A Broadway adaptation is also in the works as well as a theme park ride.
There have also been talks of a sequel for the 2013 hit movie. It was briefly speculated that 'Strange Magic' would be the highly-anticipated film but that was quickly corrected. CNN reported that the Touchstone Pictures animated flick is said to be based on Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' and not Hans Christian Anderson's fairytale.
Do you think the 'Frozen' actress should sue Disney for a better cut in the blockbuster hit? Or do you think Spencer Lacey Ganus should just let it go?
