He's one of those stars that can seem to do it all. Whether it's an indie film or a big blockbuster, whether it's drama, fantasy, action, horror, and now even comedy! Johnny Depp's latest movie proves that the handsome and versatile actor can really turn on the laughs! Especially with the newly released Mortdecai trailer, Johnny Depp proves himself charming and amusing as the bumbling Mortdecai.
The movie follows the misadventures of art dealer Charles Mortdecai, who is on the hunt for a stolen art work that is allegedly connected to a missing bank account that is filled with gold filched by the Nazis. Though his motives are clearly not for "Queen and country" as is revealed in the trailer, but more for his own personal gain as he is going bankrupt, the passionate -- if bumbling detective makes us laugh as he deals with the strange people who inhabit the world of America. This clearly Johnny Depp's movie, as the entire story hinges around his humorous portrayal of the detective.
Mortdecai is based on a 1970s serial comic novel written by Kyril Bonfiglioli. The stories revolve around the English aristocratic art dealer Charles Mortdecai, who is always on an adventure alongside his manservant named Jock Strapp. The titles of the book series include, "Don't Point That Thing At Me," "After You With A Pistol," "Something Nasty In The Woodshed," and "The Great Moustache Mystery." The novels have been compared in a good way to that of P.G. Wodehouse' own famous characters, Wooster and Jeeves.
The movie also stars Gwyneth Paltrow (Johanna Mortdecai, the wife), Ewan McGregor (Inspector Martland), Avengers Age Of Ultron actor Paul Bettany (Jock Strapp), and Olivia Munn. Mortdecai will hit movie screens on February, 2015.
