Which Motorola device is the better purchase? We compare the Moto G and the Moto E to see which is the ideal choice for consumers.

In terms of design and display, the Moto G is slightly bigger than the Moto E. The Moto G measures 125x65x12.3 mm while the Moto E measures 130x66x11.6 mm. The Moto G is slightly longer than the Moto E and is also 2% wider. Even so, the Moto G is slightly slimmer than the Moto E, which makes it hard to notice the difference between the two. The Moto G is slightly heavier than the Moto E, weighing 143 grams, while the latter weighs 142 grams. However, both smartphones are easy to carry around.

The Moto G and Moto E come with almost the same display sizes with only a difference of 0.2 inches between them. The Moto G comes with a 4.5 inch screen while the Moto E comes with a 4.3 inch display. The only notable difference is in the resolution and pixel density. The Moto E comes with a HD resolution display with a 256ppi, which is lower than the 326ppi 720p display present in the Moto G.

For the hardware and OS, the Moto G is powered by a quad-core snapdragon 400 SoC processor while the Moto E is powered by a dual-core 200 SoC processor. Both Motorola devices run on 1GB RAM. The Moto G comes in two storage variants: the 8GB and the 16GB. On the other hand, the Moto E only has a 4GB internal memory option. However, the Moto E has the upper hand in this case as it comes with a MicroSD slot.

Both smartphones come with nano coated internal parts, which prevent them from damage in case of accidental water splashes.They also run with the latest Android version: the KitKat 4.4. It is surprising to find this OS on a budget phone as most of them come with dated versions.

For camera specs, both devices come with a 5MP rear camera even though the Moto E lacks some features that are present in the Moto G. The Moto G's camera comes with flash, but the Moto E does not. The Moto G has a 1.3MP front camera while the Moto E does not feature a front camera. A 5MP camera is pretty decent for taking good shots, even though the Moto E may not be able to take shots in low lit areas.

The Moto G goes for $179 while the Moto E cost $129.
