'Mortal Instruments' TV Series Showrunner Ed Decter Confirmed! Original Cast Will Not Reprise Their Roles?

Ed Decter will be the showrunner of the upcoming "Mortal Instruments" TV series.

As per Deadline, Constantin Film wants to keep its "Mortal Instruments" franchise going first filtered out at Mipcom. Last October, the company released official announcement that there will be a TV spin off of "The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones" with writer/exec producer Ed Decter.

Although the showrunner was already revealed, no official announcement yet was made about the casting.

One of the biggest questions about this show is whether or not the original movie cast will reprise their roles in the television series?

Travelers Today claimed that even though that "The Mortal Instruments" will return as TV series and the orginal casts Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower had got some projects after the films' release, "it would be highly unlikely they'd ever get back to the series" despite of the huge fan base the book had.

Constantin film and TV head Martin Moszkowicz told Hollywood Reporter, "It actually makes sense to do (the novels) as a TV series. There was so much from the book that we had to leave out of the Mortal Instruments film. In the series we'll be able to go deeper and explore this world in greater detail and depth."

Moszkowicz is also handling television adaptations of several of its English-language movie properties, including the serial killer drama "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer" and the "Resident Evil" sci-fi horror franchise.

The TV series will start with "Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" followed by "City of Ashes." Many news websites said that due to the box office flop, the second sequel was delayed and led for the production to decide to make it a TV series instead.
