Details of the shooting incident that occurred at the Stozier Library at Florida State University that left two students and an employee wounded continue to surface.

The man accused of shooting three people on the campus of FSU early Thursday morning, Myron May, was allegedly suffering from mental problems that were getting worse, according to his ex-girlfriend.

31-year-old May, who was killed by police after the shooting incident, had gone to the police station in Las Cruces, N.M to report his belief that a camera had been planted in his apartment and he could hear voices of people talking about him, according to the Orlando Sentinel. Before the shooting at FSU, May had also reportedly posted on his Facebook page links to information on alleged government mind-reading and he believed the government was spying on him, according to the media outlet The Blade.

May reportedly quit his job as an associate trial attorney before heading back to Florida and staying with friends, but giving no hints about his plans for the shooting.

"Mr. May's sense of being and place in our community was not what most people would refer to as normal," stated Tallahassee Police Chief Michael DeLeo.

He continued, "He had a sense of crisis and he was searching for something."

May had reportedly sent several packages to his friends before the shooting. The first package that was sent by the man was delivered in Texas, a law enforcement official stated.

Authorities reportedly thought the packages could contain videos and journal from May that indicate that he may have feared being watched and targeted by the government.

Despite May's reported mental problems, the man has been described by friends as "sweet, smart and understated."

"His fraternity nickname was 'Sensitive Joe' and it was fitting," stated state Rep. Matt Gaetz, who belonged to the same Florida State political club as May.

He added, "I was so surprised that someone with this docile nature would have something happen in their lives that would have outcome."
