A grand jury is reportedly getting closer to deciding whether or not to indict Ferguson Officer Darren Wilson, the man who is responsible for shooting teenager Michael Brown, according to CNN.

Wilson, who is currently on paid administrative leave, has reportedly maintained that he’s done nothing wrong, but is in the final stages of negotiations with Ferguson city officials to resign, sources close to the talks stated.

The officer’s supporters have reportedly claimed that Wilson fired only in self-defense. However, others who are in support of Brown reportedly claimed that the officer shot an unarmed teenager who was holding up his hands in surrender at the time of the shooting.

The shooting has led to violent protests on the streets of Ferguson and there are reportedly expected to be more depending on the grand jury’s deacons regarding the case.

“What do we want?”

“Darren Wilson!”

“How do we want him?”

“Dead?”

This is just one of the protests that are reportedly being shouted by those in support of Michael Brown. Protesters have reportedly formed a mob on Thursday night in front of the Ferguson Police Department, which has been fenced off in expectation of mayhem following the grand jury’s decision, according to The Daily Beast.

Gov. Jay Nixon reportedly announced last week that more than 1,000 police officers had received special training ahead of the grand jury’s decision, according to ABC News. Several school districts will reportedly be told in advance that the grand jury announcement is coming so that schools can get students home before possible disruptions that could be caused by the demonstrations.

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder reportedly announced new guidelines for “law enforcement about how to approach maintaining order during First Amendment-protected events” in a video message that was released on Friday.

"I recognize that progress will not come easily, and long-simmering tensions will not be called overnight,” stated Holder.

He added, “These struggles go to the heart of who we are and who we aspire to be, both as a nation and as a people. And it is clear that we have a great deal of important work still to do.”
