Winnie-the-Pooh was suggested to be the face of a new public playground during a meeting of the council in Tuszyn, according to media reports in the United Kingdom.
However, some councillors in Poland aren’t the biggest fans of Winne-the-Pooh as they see him and the fact that he only wears a shirt as “inappropriate,” according to CBC.
“The problem with that bear is it doesn’t have a complete wardrobe,” stated Counc. Ryszard Cichy.
He continued, “It is half naked, which is wholly inappropriate for children. [Poland’s fictional bear] is dressed from head to toe, unlike Pooh who is only dressed from the waist up.”
The debate about whether Winnie-the-Pooh should be the new face of the playground has even brought up debate regarding the sexuality of the beloved children’s character.
“It doesn’t wear underpants because it doesn’t have a sex. It’s a hermaphrodite,” an unnamed official reportedly stated, according to NBC News.
Another councilor reportedly blamed Winnie’s creator, Alan Alexander Milne for the honey-loving cub’s inappropriateness.
“This is very disturbing but can you imagine! The author was over 60 and cut his [Pooh’s] testicles off with a razor blade because he had a problem with his identity,” stated their resident.
Winnie-the-Pooh fans have already started to address the recent discussion about the Disney character on social media.
Winnie the Pooh was banned in Poland because he doesn't wear pants? Like he's a bear. Not a streaker.
