Nestle New Drink Product To Burn Fat: Can We Say Goodbye To Exercise?

Nestle is preparing to shock the world with a new drink product.

The company, which created the joys of KitKats and glorious Nestle cookie dough, are reportedly believed to be in the early stages of developing a a new drink product that will burn fat, according to the U.K.'s The Metro.

Nestle has reportedly identified an enzyme in the body called AMPK which regulates metabolism and is stimulated by a compound called C-13, according to Bloomberg.

"The enzyme can help people who can't tolerate or continue rigorous exercise. instead of 20 minutes of jogging or 40 minutes of cycling, it may help boost metabolism with moderate exercise like brisk walking. They'd get similar effects with less strain," stated a Nestle food scientist.

Although testing hasn't started yet, Nestle's new drink product was reportedly met positively by investors as the company's share price rose by 0.3 percent.

"Ideally, we'll be able to develop products that will help promote and augment the effects of exercise," stated Kei Sakamoto, who heads the diabetes and circadian rhythms department at the Nestle Institute of Health Sciences in Switzerland.

Although the drink is expected to burn fat, the product won't be replacing exercise, Nakamoto said in a statement.

Despite the amazing effects this drink can have, it should still be approached with caution.

Dr. Silvana Obici, an endocrinologist at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio who was not involved in the study and has no affiliation with Nestlé, has reportedly stated that it was too early to know if the finding in mice could be replicated in humans with any success.

"Although I am very happy that new specific compounds with selective AMPK are coming to the forefront, I can say I have guarded optimism," Obici told ABC News.

She continued, "It needs to be demonstrated directly and not only in trials but also in animal models of obesity and also in clinical trials."
