Is Idris Elba Apocalypse in the next X-Men Movie after "Days of Future Past?" One insider hints it might be so.

Rumors of Idris Elba as Apocalypse spread like wildfire when fans took a hint from insider Jeff Sneider of The Wrap. The clue was dropped in an interview with Jeff Weintraub of collider.com.

Sneider earned some street cred when he revealed news of the six actors pooled to play the part of Jean Grey and Scott Summers in "X-Men: Apocalypse." Though he didn't drop any names concerning who would play the titular villain, there's a clue which made fans scouring for Easter Eggs scattered over the past few months.

He said one of the actors has been saying the word "apocalypse" a lot last year. The hint is vague, but more than enough material for fans to start searching for keywords in actors' previous interviews, movies, appearances, and what have you (comicbookmovie.com).

Which brings Idris Elba to the forefront, who've been credited to mention the word "apocalypse" several times, though in a context unrelated to the Marvel Universe. Idris Elba's character made a rousing speech in 2013's "Pacific Rim," with a line that leaves a mark: "We are cancelling the apocalypse!"

The line has since been repeated on social media, with Idris Elba even mentioning the term a handful of times. If Idris Elba is Apocalypse, though, then he'll be playing two characters in the Marvel Cinematic universe. Heimdall is a major character in the first Thor movie, and it's yet to be confirmed if he will return in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and "Thor: Ragnarok."

"X-Men: Apocalypse" screenwriter Simon Kinberg wants to portray the villain as a charismatic character leader, which gives more credit to Idris Elba, set to reprise his Luther character (BBC America); Elba was also previously considered as the next James Bond, a breakthrough for the franchise if it pulls through in the future (screenrant.com).

Is Idris Elba Apocalypse when "X-Men: Apocalypse launches in theaters May 2016? Stay tuned for updates.
