Which device is worth the purchase? We compare the iPhone 6 and the Motorola Moto G 2014 to see which smartphone is the better buy.

In terms of design and display, the iPhone 6 has a shatter proof glass on top of the LED-backlit IPS LCD display, which was treated with oleophobic coating to be scratch resistant. It measures 4.7 inches, it supports 750x1334 pixels and 326ppi, offering a better viewing experience than the previous iPhone models. On the back of the phone was placed a fingerprint sensor and the new added feature Apple Pay, which allows its users to make payments. The device is not heavier than other smartphones with similar sizes, weighing 129 grams and its dimensions are 138.1x67x6.9 mm.

The Motorola Moto G 2014 looks a lot like its predecessor and has features similar to Moto E with silver bars above and below the screen, and many users criticized Motorola for coming up with this idea. The smartphone is very thick at 11 mm, it’s very wide at 70.7mm, which means that it’s kind of difficult to handle. The display is IPS LCD protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, measuring 5 inches, with a resolution of 720x1280pixels and 294ppi. It weighs 149 grams and comes in only two variants of colors: white and black.

For the hardware and OS, the iPhone 6 comes with the latest A8 chipset which hosts a dual core Cyclone processor clocked at 1.4GHz, and uses a PowerVR GX6450. There are three variants of internal memories with the capacity of 16, 64 and 128GB, but doesn't support microSD card slot for expansion. The iPhone 6 was released along with iOS 8, but Apple already brought an update: iOS 8.0.2. But, the RAM capacity remained the same, 1GB.

The Motorola Moto G on the other hand, has a Cortex A7 processor with four cores, clocked at 1.2GHz which runs perfectly on a Qualcomm MSM8226 Snapdragon 400 chipset. The GPU is an older Adreno version, 305, but it really does its job. The phone comes with 8GB or 16GB of internal storage, and you’re able to add a microSD card to get up to 32GB. The Moto G 2014 has also 1GB of RAM, but it operates on the Android platform v4.4.4 (KitKat), and it’s waiting to be upgraded to Android L.

For battery and camera specs, both smartphones have non-removable batteries. The Moto G 2014 comes with a 2070 mAh battery unit, while the iPhone 6 hosts an 1810 mAh battery.

Although both smartphones are fitted with 8MP back cameras, the iPhone 6 has more features. Instead of single LED flash, it has dual-LED flash, it can record HD videos and images simultaneously, it has a 1/3” sensor size, a 1.5µm pixel size etc. The front camera, however, is only 1.2MP. The Moto G 2014 has a 2MP front snapper.

The new Moto G costs $234 dollars, while the iPhone 6 costs $649 (16GB), $749 (64GB) and $849 (128GB).
