Did we almost lose revered actress Meryl Streep through an on set injury? It seems like the multi awarded actress really does give her all when it comes to her performances -- mastering accents, learning songs, playing instruments, and now -- even doing her own stunts! In the brand new Disney movie Into The Woods, the actress was reported to have been so keen on playing the terrifying witch that she almost suffered a serious injury on set!
According to James Corden, who stars in this musical as The Baker, Meryl got a little too excited in her entrance into The Baker and The Baker's wife's home. She was hopping up and down on tables and chairs, and for a second her witch's costume got caught and she started to fall. According to Corden's retelling, both he and the Into The Woods movie director Rob Marshall were rooted to the spot, but enter Emily Blunt who saved Meryl from the almost-injury. How's that for really committing to a character, even if it means risking your neck literally in the process?
It's no wonder that the Into The Woods movie star was recently given the highest honor for an American civilian in the United States. Meryl Streep was given the Presidential Medal of Freedom, by no less than Barack Obama himself. "I love Meryl Streep," the president is reported as saying. "Her husband knows I love her. Michelle knows I love her. There's nothing they can do about it."
Aside from the Into The Woods movie actress, other recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom this year includes musician Stevie Wonder, philanthropist Ethel Kennedy, and journalist Tom Brokaw.
