Vitor Belfort news reveals "The Phenom's" claims that being off testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) does more good for him now. The former UFC heavyweight champion also says that in terms of his skillset, he is now better than ever.

The 37-year old mixed martial arts veteran will be facing reigning UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman at UFC 184 in February 2015. The fight was originally scheduled for the early part of this year, but due to drug-testing problems, he was forced out of the contest.

Vitor Belfort news reveals that "The Phenom" was openly using testosterone replacement therapy in the past years, but was forced to stop after the Nevada Athletic Commission outlawed its use. However, in February of this year, Belfort was caught with a higher level of testosterone, way more than the legal amount.

Belfort's fight against Weidman will be his first official bout off TRT. And in an interview with Brazilian media outlet SporTV, "The Phenom" says that being off testosterone replacement therapy has done more good for him.

"It was better for me (the end of TRT) because I left a boring treatment that was bothering me, and now I'm stronger, lighter and faster," Belfort claimed. "So, for me, it was wonderful."

According to a report by ESPN this past week, Belfort passed his pre-fight drug test for UFC 184.

"NSAC executive director Bob Bennett told ESPN.com on Thursday that Belfort tested negative for all banned substances and that his blood serum testosterone levels were within normal range," the report reads.

Vitor Belfort news also reveals that the fighter himself claims that his skillset has improved as well, now that he is off TRT.

"I know that is hard to believe but I'm better now. I have been improving my skills, my kicks, my boxing, my endurance, my grappling, my strength and my footwork."
