The hit HBO show is rounding up its list of cast members for the upcoming season. After announcements made one after another of the three big male leads going to such A list actors as Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, and Taylor Kitsch, we now have confirmed news of the actresses who will be playing the female leads. Joining the True Detective season 2 cast is none other than The Notebook actress Rachel McAdams!
After a successful stint in a string of movies such as the aforementioned The Notebook, Mean Girls, Wedding Crashers and A Most Wanted Man Rachel McAdams will be back on the small screen. She will be playing a detective named Ani Bezzerides who works for California's Ventura County Sheriff's department. She is one of the few straight detectives in the force, and this has her clashing with many personalities in her field.
Previously, it was rumored that actresses such as Jessica Chastain and Rosario Dawson were also up for the female lead part in the True Detective season 2 cast. But Rachel McAdams somehow beat all of those actresses who were once linked to the project -- a coveted role to be sure, and one that rides on the popularity of season 1's cast which include Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey and Mockingjay's Woody Harrelson.
Meanwhile, another strong female character is also part of True Detective season 2's cast list, and it has been bagged by Sherlock: Game of Shadows actress Kelly Reilly. The role is that of Vince Vaughn's wife, a woman named Jordan Semyon who is a former actress, but who is now his partner in crime in all of the crime boss' operations, and enterprises. With this kind of cast confirmed, HBO's True Detective season 2 is shaping up to be one of the most interesting shows to come on TV. Stay tuned for more news on this upcoming season's plots and spoilers!
