After only a month in prison, Oscar Pistorius, along with his family, is facing a special treatment controversy already. Read on for the Oscar Pistorius update on the alleged rule-breaking birthday party with his siblings.

The Sunday Times reportedly "witnessed several rules being flouted by officials" for the fallen athlete's 28th birthday on Saturday. Officers at the Kgosi Mampuru II prison in Pretoria allegedly allowed the Pistorius siblings, Aimee and Carl to bring in balloons, a cake and a gift bag.

Per Department of Correctional Services' rules, inmates are only allowed food bought at the prison tuck shop.

Pistorius' brother and sister also allegedly stayed for more than an hour, which violates the allowed one-hour visiting time for Group B inmates which the athlete is a part of. The Sunday Times also accused the correctional officers of not submitting Aimee and Carl's vehicles to a proper inspection upon entering.

On Sunday, Aimee Pistorius fired back at the claims in a series of tweets, calling the newpapers reporting on the supposed special treatment for her brother "false and irresponsible."

"Facts: Carl and I had a 45 minute noncontact visit with Oscar on Saturday as all our visits have been noncontact thus far, per regulations," the star athlete's sister explained on Twitter.

She also clarified that her brother only received toiletries and letters for this birthday. They did bring balloons, however, but only to "show him through the glass divider."

Aimee Pistorius continued, "We are respectful of the rules. The correctional officers have been courteous but stern - as their position requires."

Correctional services spokesman Logan Maistry also denied the accusation but also promised to start a probe into it.

For more Oscar Pistorius updates, the prosecution's appeal hearing has been set for December 9. Earlier this month, the National Prosecuting Authority said in their statement that they believe "there exists reasonable prospects of a successful appeal based on a question of law."

The South African Paralympian received a "shockingly light" sentence for manslaughter. He fatally shot his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp through the bathroom door of their Pretoria home on Valentine's Day last year.

Do you think he should have a heavier sentence? Or is the five-year prison sentence enough?
