New updates for the Lionsgate and Saban produced Power Rangers movie reboot have been revealed.
We start of with two veteran Power Ranger cast members hinting a cameo appearance in the movie as MTV News reports that martial artist Jason David Frank will join the movie as a former Power Ranger that will help train the new heroes under Zordon's orders. JDF was known for his role as Tommy Oliver a.k.a. the Green and White Ranger in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV series. His character has also taken several Red Ranger forms, not to mention being a Black Ranger in Power Rangers: Dino Thunder, and returning as the Green Ranger again in Power Rangers: Super Megaforce.
In an interview with ComicBook.com, Frank said that he expected some level of involvement in the reboot coming from Lionsgate, though it’s unclear how big a part he’ll play.
“I probably will be involved. They talked to me about it,” he said. “I don’t know how much I am involved, but for sure cameos at least in the reboot movie.”
The Original Pink Ranger Amy Jo Johnson has also expressed her desire to join the Power Rangers Movie Reboot during an interview with The Verb.
"Oh My God, I want a cameo! [Laughs]"
MTV reported before that Liam Hemsworth, Chloe Grace Moretz and Michael B. Jordan are the first batch of rangers as the Red, Pink and Green (or White) Rangers, while People.com reported that Brenda Song, Jamie Bell, and Donald Glover will the fill the role of the Yellow, Blue, and Black Rangers. ComicBookMovie.com reports that Liam Neeson will play the role of Power Rangers mentor, Zordon in the movie.
Meryl Streep, Michael Fassbender, and Tom Hardy are rumored to play the villains Rita Repulsa, Lord Zedd, and Goldar while MADtv comedians Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key will portray Bulk and Skull in the movie.
MTV further add, that the producers of the movie have been in talks with Liam Neeson, Chloe Grace Moretz, and Liam Hemsworth about the project, although nothing has been clarified yet on whether they will join the film.
Chloe Grace Moretz allegedly said in an interview with MTV News that she is excited to play a "kick-ass" character once again. "Pink Ranger is so cool. I'm getting excited to play another kick-ass lady like Hit-Girl".
As for Liam Hemsworth, many fans believe that Red Ranger should be played by "Twilight" star Taylor Lautner while others wanted "Divergent" star Theo James for the part.
Here's what MTV thinks about Liam Hemsworth's being the Red Ranger.
"The Red Ranger is essentially the most red-blooded (get it?), bro-y Power Ranger, and the de facto leader. He's got the good looks, and he's built like a rock. Sounds like a Hemsworth to us, and since Lionsgate, who's producing the movie, already has a nice relationship with Liam from the 'Hunger Games'movies, he seems like the best choice."
Meanwhile, there have been reports that the official costumes designs of the Power Rangers in the movie have been leaked online.
