Georges St Pierre news reveals that his protégé Rory MacDonald vowed to never fight his mentor. The UFC welterweight contender also disclosed that should "GSP" return to action, he will only do superfights.
MacDonald, who recently competed at professional grappling promotion Metamoris for its fifth event, appeared on this past week's edition of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, hosted by the UFC analyst. There he revealed how St Pierre welcomed him into the Tristar Gym in Montreal, Canada, when he first began training in the said facility four years ago.
"He welcomed it," MacDonald explained. "I never forgot it, either. A lot of people now are asking me to fight him, this and that. They don't see the things that I got to see, that I appreciate. Not only as a martial artist, but for myself."
Georges St Pierre news reveals that the former long-time welterweight champion is still on hiatus following his controversial and grueling title fight victory against current champion Johny "Bigg Rigg" Hendricks at UFC 167 on November 2013.
While MacDonald had already turned down the potential offers for him to face "GSP", whom he put in high regard as his mentor, he reiterated this stance on Rogan's podcast. He also affirmed how grateful he is for the how St Pierre took him under his wing.
"I learned so much from him and I gained a lot from his kindness and what he gave to me. I'm not going to forget that and stab him in the back."
Geogres St Pierre news also reveals that the former welterweight champion has not yet decided if he will make a UFC comeback. But when asked about the said possibility, MacDonald revealed "GSP's" interest in the bigger fights, and the bigger fights only.
"I think he'd just do superfights," MacDonald told Rogan. "I'm pretty sure. Almost 100 percent sure."
