Black Friday 2014 Deals Fail Compared To Thanksgiving Sales: Sorry Shoppers!

Tags

Black Friday shoppers lined up even before Thanksgiving 2014 had come to an end.

To the dismay of those who had camped out to get the best deals on Black Friday, an analysis of sales data and store circulars by two research firms reportedly showed that shoppers are more likely to find better prices during Thanksgiving sales, according to the Boston Herald.

A total of 86 laptops and tablets were on sale for Thanksgiving at Best Buy, Wal-Mart and other stores while shoppers could get deals on only nine on Black Friday 2014, according to the analysis of promotions for The Associated Press by researcher MarketTrack.

Shoppers were also reportedly able to get better deals online on Thanksgiving compared to Black Friday as well.

"I feel guilty for going out on Thanksgiving, but the deals are so much more attractive for me than on Black Friday," stated Tamara Gaffney.

However, although shoppers are more likely to get lucky with Thanksgiving sales, that doesn't mean that the deals for Black Friday won't bring in consumers. This weekend is reportedly expected to generate sales of $50 million and some 140 million Americans are expected to hit the stores, according to Fortune.

Although people may be hitting various stores throughout Black Friday, shoppers have reportedly been showing a trend in what they're buying and looking for in stores.

"So far, people are gravitating to the 'doorbusters' - that has got their attention. There's so much information online, so they're doing that research and going right for those doorbusters," stated Macy's CEO Terry Lundgren.
