When will the Android L release date or update happen to HTC One M7 and HTC One M8 Google Play Editions (GPE)?
Owners are getting anxious as the delay has occurred the second time around. It was November 14 when HTC VP of Product Management Mo Versi replied to an inquiry about the Lollipop timeline for GPE: "Target is early next week." In Nov. 18, Versi received this tweet: "Are you guys still on target for GPE HTC One M7 & M8 early this week? Does that mean today? Tomorrow?" He replied, "Got delayed - new target is Friday. Working aggressively to get it out as quickly as possible. Thanks. Mo."
According to news, sudden bugs and some delays caused the upgrade for the GPE to be moved to this date (Nov. 21).
Unfortunately, the Android L release date or update for HTC One M7 and HTC One M8 GPE did not happen - again. Versi, in Nov. 21 replied to another tweet that asked if HTC is still in target and if it has submitted the version to Google. He said, "Yes, we submitted the SW on Monday and were informed today we need to re-spin SW. Appreciate your patience."
In Nov. 29, Versi revealed this in Twitter: "The SW for M7 & M8 with the fixes are in Google's QA lab. Their target is to provide TA by end of day Monday."
TA refers to Technical Approval. According to Android Central, it is one of the last stages before the upgrade rolls out over the air. This announcement does not give any specific date for the Android L release date or update for HTC One M7 and HTC One M8 but at least, this may mean that owners do not have to wait any longer.
Versi, who never fails to update users, replied to several inquiries on Dec. 1 and among them is this: "Google has not provided TA this evening due to their current workload. I'm expecting it to come soon."
His most recent tweet read, "I sincerely apologize for the unexpected delay due to an unforeseen issue on GPE. We're addressing with high priority, expect a fix quickly."
