A woman has reportedly been arrested in the stabbing of American teacher, Ibolya Ryan, in an Abu Dhabi shopping mall, according to ABC News.

Interior Minister Saif bin Zayed reportedly said in a statement that the suspect that has been arrested “targets her victims based on nationality alone.”

The American kindergarten teacher that was stabbed was reportedly the mother of 11-year-old twins. She was reportedly originally from Hungary, but lived in Colorado and had been teaching in the United Arab Emirates for more than a year and was also mentoring other teachers.

The woman who is suspected to have stabbed the American teacher was reportedly wearing a black abayah, which covered her from head to toe, evident from the footage that was caught on CCTV.

“With God’s grace & exceptional follow-up by UAE leaders, our security forces have detained the face-covered criminal,” Bin Zayed announced on Twitter, according to USA Today.

Authorities have reportedly stated that the suspect also planted a bomb in front of an American doctor’s home as well. One of the doctor’s children reportedly noticed the strange object in front of their door and the family called a security guard to investigate.

The security guard reportedly called the police.

“They dismantled the bomb and identified its primitive components that included small gas cylinders, a lighter, glue and nails to cause maximum injuries when denoted,” head of the criminal investigation unit at Abu Dhabi’s police department, Colonel Dr. Rashid Borshid, stated.

The guard reportedly stated that a woman wearing gloves and an abayah had come to the house before the incident, dragging a large suitcase, according to authorities.

News of the American teacher that was tragically stabbed has gained international attention.

“The victim of this brutal crime was a school teacher who was committed to building strong future generations and was known for her dedication to work,” stated Bin Zayed.
