Will Conjoined Twins Sharing Heart Be Separated? Babies Are Doing ‘Amazing’

Conjoined twins were born to a couple from Ladonia, AL at 37 weeks, according to the news outlet ValdoStatoday.

The male conjoined twins, who share a heart, torso, arms and legs, will not be separated, according to social media posts made by their parents, Michael and Robin Hamby of Alabama.

"I need a lot of prayer for my boys," stated Michael Hammy on a Facebook video posted on Wednesday night, according to Fox News.

It is reportedly rare for conjoined twins, who share a heart and circulatory system, to survive delivery, and even if they do, the discussion of whether they should be separated or not tends to arise. Conjoined twins reportedly occur once every 200,000 live births and about 40 to 60 percent are stillborn, and about 35 percent live only one day.

The twin boys were welcomed into this world with joy as relatives reportedly cheered their arrival at Northside Hospital where the twins were delivered at 7:32 am local time, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

The boys will reportedly be transported to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston on Thursday morning.

"Babies are out and so far they are doing AMAZING," a post said on the hospital's Facebook page.

The Hambys reportedly stated that their twin babies may have just one heart, but it's the perfect one, according to Life News. The couple reportedly rejected an abortion and prepared for the birth of their beautiful boys.
