Which smartphone is the better choice for consumers? We compare the Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE and the HTC Desire Eye to see which device is worth the purchase.
In terms of design and display, the HTC Desire Eye is taller than its rival and has a plastic build, with a two-tone design. It weighs 154 grams, being 9 grams heavier than its rival, but it’s wider, measuring 73.8 mm, compared to 72.5 mm, and it’s 0.4 mm thicker than the Samsung Galaxt S5 LTE, measuring 8.5 mm. The Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE also features a perforated plastic casing, but it has a physical button and two capacitive buttons below the screen.
The HTC device has a 5.2 inches display with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels with 424ppi pixel density. The Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE has the same resolution, but a higher pixel density of 432ppi and a 5.1inches Super AMOLED display.
For the hardware and OS, both smartphones have Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset that supports a quad core 400 processor. But the HTC Desire Eye is clocked at 2.3GHz, while the Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE is clocked at 2.5GHz.
The HTC device has one variant of internal storage of 16GB and Samsung device has in addition a 32GB variant, but both smartphones support a microSD card slot for expansion up to 128GB.
They both run on the Android v4.4.2 (KitKat), but the Galaxy S5 LTE already received the 4.4.4 update.
For the battery and camera specs, the HTC Desire Eye has a 2600mAh battery with a talking time of 20 hours on 3G.The Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE has a 2800mAh user replaceable battery.
HTC device has a 13MP shooter with dual-LED flash and f/2.2 aperture. Its primary camera is also 13MP and features such a dual-LED flash, HDR, panorama, face detection etc. The Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE has 16MP back camera, but the front camera is only 2.1MP,and it can record Ultra HD 4K videos at 30fps.
The HTC Desire Eye will cost around $675, while the Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE is cheaper, costing $529.
