Few shows have been suffering from much controversy, Showtime’s Dexter is one of them, especially when talking about the series finale, However, Micheal C. Hall is hoping to get things clarified. During a Reddit AMA, the actor took the chance to address about the decision on keeping the famed serial killer at the end of the drama, Hall stated: “Given what he’d been through, and his attempts to have his cake and eat it too in regards to indulging his compassion to kill AND have a more authentic life, his self-imposed exile did resonate. I think Dexter came to believe that… anything he touched would eventually be destroyed and so he felt he needed to let it all go. Of course, Dexter is also a pragmatist and a self-preservationalist so he didn’t do himself in. But rather put himself on hold.” Having the best understanding that Hall wants to get things clear for the ending of the drama, There is a little he can do to get the ending’s damage done. Recalling its ending, The series spend almost a decade promising an ending that would get Dexter his life’s best sacrifice to save everyone around him and apparently, becoming just a lumber jack is too far from that “best sacrifice” that the series had promised. The explanation of “having his cake and eating it too.” also proves that its creative team is quite insisting that Dexter never learned and he apparent got nothing, He never learned what it is to be human, which had turned out to be the drama’s purpose. Rumors about Showtime ordering Dexter to be alive in the drama is still prevalent when the series’ spin-off will be launched, However, Unless someone from the drama will be out for the confirmation of the rumor, All we were left to do is wonder about the “error” of ending that this drama has given us, Dexter is currently available on Netflix.
