Point guard Jeremy Lin is not happy being benched but he's still willing to sacrifice and follow coach Byron Scott's plan for the Los Angeles Lakers to turn around its season.
Coach Byron Scott made some changes in the starting lineup of the Los Angeles Lakers against the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday as he placed Jeremy Lin and Carlos Boozer on the bench in favor of Ed Davis and Rick Price. But it still didn't matter as the purple and gold still lost, 104-87.
"I believe I can be a starting point guard in the league, and I want to be. That's been a goal of mine for a long time. I'm not going to lie. It was disappointing when I heard about it,'' the point guard, who made quite a buzz in the Linsanity era in New York, said.
"This is one of the toughest situations I've been in ever since I played the game of basketball. It's tough. But I believe God has me for a reason and I just keep working ... I believe God (has a reason). There's a reason for everything. There really is even when the situations, they do look bleak, he turns it into something I didn't expect,'' according to the Jeremy Lin news from NY Post.
He also said that Los Angeles Lakers coach Byron Scott wanted him to play particular focus on defense as Jeremy Lin explained: "(Scott) just said he wanted me to on the defensive end to try to be the help side and try to defend more. And on offense he said he wanted me to try to get other guys involved more, calling plays for like Jordan Hill.''
In related Jeremy Lin news from SB Nation, Linsanity just played 19 minutes and scored three points and dished out four assists in the loss. "Lin is averaging 11.5 points, 4.9 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game on the season. He's shooting 45 percent from the field and 34 percent from behind the three-point line," it said.
