Prince William and Kate Middleton were seen at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on Monday night to watch the Nets-Cavaliers game, according to the NY Daily News.
We don’t know exactly what was said, but the glorious moment when the royal couple met with the “royal couple of Brooklyn,” Beyonce and Jay Z, may have been the most exciting couple minutes of the evening, other than Lebron James bringing his team to victory.
Beyonce and Jay Z reportedly crossed the basketball court between the third and fourth quarters to introduce themselves to Prince William and Kate Middleton, as this New York meeting was the first time the couples met.
Prince William was reportedly seen “awkwardly” holding a basketball before the game as well. After the victory of the Cavaliers, the royal couple met with James, who presented them with two Cavalier jerseys, one for Prince George back in the U.K. and one for his mom.
“I gave them a shirt and thanked them for coming here to America to watch our game,” explained James.
He added, “It was their first time watching a basketball game. It was an honor that I would be the guy that they decided to watch.”
Outside the Barclays Center where Prince William and Kate Middleton were watching their first basketball game, hundreds of demonstrators were reportedly seen protesting against a grand jury’s recent decision to decline to indict a cop in the chokehold death of Eric Garner.
Lebron James and teammate Kyrie Irving, as well as Nets player Kevin Garnett, reportedly wore shirts that read “I Can’t Breathe” prior to the game as well.
“I hope they hear us. They have to get the world to care,” one of the protestors, Eve Lewis, stated.
