"Pitch Perfect" star Anna Kendrick will be playing a cool senior who's forced to make fart noises just to get in a party for "Pitch Perfect 2," but in the new film adaptation of Jason Robert Brown's musical, she'll be showing off her high notes...and blonde hair!
The highly anticipated movie version of "The Last Five Years" finally released its trailer and it shows off Kendrick's impressive vocal range.
The "Twilight" actress will be taking on the role of Cathy Hiatt, a struggling Broadway actress who tries to understand what went wrong in her relationship with her writer partner, Jamie Wellerstein (played by Jeremy Jordan from "Smash").
She sings about the relationship throughout the entire trailer, from the moment they met until the time everything started falling apart.
According to E! News, the film already debuted in last September's 2014 Toronto International Film Festival. However, it will be released commercially this coming February 23.
While excitement for the musical film is increasing, The Hollywood Reporter had already given it a lacklustre review last September.
The entertainment site found it "sweet but a tad dull."
It did point out however that "Pitch Perfect" star Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan "make a charming pair."
"Their musical backgrounds are evident in the confidence and depth of feeling they bring to the songs, but also the ease with which they shift back and forth between rom-com breeziness and full-blown passion, be it the soaring highs or the heartsick lows," The Hollywood Reporter added.
The trailer starts out with Cathy (Kendrick) crying over Jamie's (Jordan) goodbye letter. This prompts her to reminisce their times together during the last five years.
Meanwhile, Kendrick will be starring in two more music-inclined movies. She will be starring as Cinderella in Tim Burton's "Into The Woods" which is set for a theatrical release this Christmas. She will also be reprising her role as Becca in "Pitch Perfect 2" premiering on May 15.
