The “Late Show With David Letterman” ends soon, to the dismay of fans of the talk show host, and we’re already wondering what the comedian will be doing after his long television run.

After 6,028 episodes of the “Late Show With David Letterman” and a 32-year career in late-night television, the 67-year-old might be preparing to take a “Thelma & Louise” type road trip after the end of his final episode, which airs on May 20, according to the NY Daily News.

David Letterman had spoken about his retirement with Ricky Gervais when the comedian made an appearance on “The Late Show” in July 2014.

“You can’t retire,” Ricky Gervais told Letterman during the interview.

The British comedian joked, “You think you’re going to spend more time with your family, but they have a routine. You’re going to be in the way. You’re going to spending a lot of time in a shed pretending to do stuff.”

Gervais ultimately suggests what Letterman should do after his hit show ends.

“Don’t die without spending all your money,” Gervais firmly told Letterman back in the summer.

He continued, “Like ‘Thelma and Louise,’ lets get all our money out and just drive across America naked and afraid, just throwing money around.”

Whether Letterman will do as Gervais told him to is a mystery, but two things are for certain, the talk show host will be replaced by Stephen Colbert, star of “The Colbert Report,” and he will be greatly missed.

“David Letterman has given to all of us a remarkable legacy of achievement and creative brilliance that will never be forgotten,” CBS Corp President and CEO Leslie Moonves said in today’s announcement, according to TIME.

She added, “It’s going to be tough to say goodbye, but I know we will all cherish the shows leading up to Dave’s final broadcast in May.”
