When a fan reached out to Avril Lavigne on Twitter asking for an update on her music, the “Complicated” singer chose to be honest.
“It’s been like two years since you completed your last album. Are you in the studio right now or working on something?,” the post read on Twitter.
Avril Lavigne disclosed that she actually hadn’t been feeling well via direct message to the Twitter account @AvrilMusicChart, which posted screenshots of the social media exchange on Tuesday, according to the LA Times.
“I feel bad because I haven’t been able to say anything to the fans to let know know why I’ve been absent. I’m torn as I’m quite private,” the 30-year-old “Hello Kitty” singer said of her complicated situation.
She added, “I’m not feeling well. I’m having some health issues. So please keep me in your prayers.”
Avril Lavigne’s rep reportedly authenticated the Twitter exchange to Billboard, but would not reveal details regarding the Canadian singer’s health problems.
The hashtags “#GetWellSoonAvril” and “#PrayForAvril” have been circulating on Twitter, which prompted Lavigne to send out a message of gratitude.
“Wanted to say thx to my fans for the support this past year! Here’s @Spotify playlist from the 2014 tour setlist,” tweeted the “I’m With You” singer.
Avril Lavigne has been having a rough year as she was reportedly the victim of the second wave of celebrity nude photo hack and has had to deal with rumors that she and her husband, NIckelback frontman Chad Kroeger, have been on the rocks, according to the NY Daily News.
Kroeger has since put those rumors to rest.
“When you get out of high school… All that rumor crap. All that stuff that people say behind each other's backs is minuscule, pales in comparison to the world of celebrity or being married to a celebrity," Kroeger told "ET Canada.
He continued, “That's high school multiplied exponentially. It's ridiculous. How many times has [actress] Jennifer Aniston been pregnant this year? A dozen? ... Let's start a new rumor: I'm pregnant!"
