We pit the HTC Desire 820 vs Xiaomi Mi4 to see which smartphone is better!
In terms of design and display, Tthe Xiaomi Mi4 looks an iPhone, with a stainless steel frame and white plastic fixers, while the back is made of glossy plastic. Its thickness is at 8.9 mm, it’s 139.2 mm tall and has a width of 68.5 mm, while it weighs 149 grams. The display is IPS LCD, with a size of 5 inches, and a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels with 441ppi.
The HTC Desire 820 uses a two-tone color unibody, and its back is made of polycarbonate material. It’s thinner than its rival, measuring 7.7 mm, but it’s taller at 157.7 mm and has a width of 78.7 mm.The HTC device is only 6grams heavier, has a bigger display of 0.5 inch and it’s LCD supports a lower resolution of 720x1280 pixels, with pixel density of 267ppi.
For the hardware and OS, the Xiaomi Mi4 uses the same hardware components as the Xperia Z3. The processor is quad core 2.5GHz Krait 400 which sits on a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset along with an Adreno 330 GPU. The HTC Desire 820 comes with an octa core processor consisting of two processors with four cores, clocked at 1.5Ghz and 1GHz, which pair with an improved Adreno 405 GPU. However, the chipset is inferior, Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615.
The HTC handset runs on Android v4.4.2 (KitKat) with 2GB of RAM and has an internal memory of 16GB, which can be increased up to 128GB, while the Xiaomi handset runs on v4.4.3 (KitKat) with 3GB of RAM and offers two variants of internal memories of 16 and 64GB, which are fixed.
For battery and camera specs, both smartphones have non-removable batteries but with a difference of almost 500mAh between their capacities. The Xiomi Mi4 has a 3080 mAh battery which lasts 280 hours in stand by mode, while the HTC Desire 820 houses a 2600 mAh battery which claims to provide 22 hours of talktime on 3G.
Both smartphones have 8MP front cameras. The back cameras are also extraordinary, being both 13MP, but the Desire 820 has single LED flash and the Xiaomi Mi4 comes with dual-LED flash.
The HTC Desire 820 costs over $410, while the Xiaomi Mi4 cost $385.
