One of the most talked about trailers today is the "Jurassic World" trailer because some scientists think that the dinosaurs weren't accurate. A zoologist said, "I'm just disappointed, as are many other scientists and researchers, that they've deliberately chosen to portray old school dinosaurs designed to mimic those of the original Jurassic Park."
It isn't surprising that the dinosaurs we see in "Jurassic World" resemble those in the first movie because the person who Steven Spielberg consulted in the new film is the same person who gave scientific advise in "Jurassic Park".
Meet Jack Horner, who also served as inspiration to Sam Neill's character Dr. Alan Grant. The Museum of the Rockies paleontologist discussed with the Smithsonian the "Jurassic World" trailer and the behavior of the dinosaurs.
There was a scene shown in the official trailer that showed a dinosaur eating a great white shark. Horner said, "It's technically not a dinosaur. It's a marine reptile. It's called a mosasaurus and the size of this one is a little out of proportion, but we don't know the ultimate size of any extinct animal."
Bryce Dallas Howard's character Beth revealed that they created a hybrid dinosaur which according to Chris Pratt's character Owen was a lot smarter and that she'll kill everything that moves. Is it possible to create a hybrid dinosaur? Jack Horner said, "It's just genetic engineering and we do genetic engineering all the time. We just haven't genetically engineered a genuine dinosaur yet, but we know how to do it."
There was also a scene in the official trailer that showed humans canoeing alongside the dinosaurs; and according to the paleontologist that is possible. He said, "If you have plant-eating dinosaurs, there's no reason you couldn't. They're going to act just like modern animals we have today. It would be like hanging around a bunch of cows."
We have a conception that dinosaurs are scary that's why some people think that we shouldn't create those animals. Jack Horner explains, "In the movies, animals want to just eat people, and they can be vengeful. But in real life, they're not."
After seeing "Jurassic World" trailer, what more could fans expect in the new film. Horner said, "It's going to be a good one. And the made-up dinosaur is going to be very scary."
