A leaked conversation in one of Sony Pictures emails has been revealed, which is going to be quite a shocker to all Marvel fan's out there. The good news is that the two filming studios are already talking about the appearance of Spiderman in the next film, Captain America: Civil War.
However, it seems that Sony is not interested in throwing in the web-slinger into the mix, even though Spiderman has a an important role to play in the original storyline and that Sony's Spider-Man franchise could definitely use the kind of restoration in collaboration with the MCU might provide.
In The Wall Street Journal "extensive discussions" went all the way up the chain to Sony CEO Kaz Hirai and Walt Disney CEO Robert Iger. Definitely, Sony Pictures Entertainment co-chairman tells a colleague that Marvel intended to include Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, which should put the "Phase Three" of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to a start on May 6th, 2016.
On the brighter side, the emails also revealed that Sony should be working on an animated "Spiderman" movie that it's going to be produced by Chris Miller and Phil Lord, who also produced for "The Lego Movie." Now, this should sound very awesome, especially for those who want to see their Marvel superheroes in Lego form.
As a result of the leaked conversation, one fan launched a petition on Change.org. Apparently, Sony's decision did not favor many Marvel comic fans and may have to reconsider their proposition of not including Spiderman in the Civil War.
In other related news, is still not certain if Marvel also had the same discussion with Fox since they have the rights to the "X-Men" franchise. This also includes Deadpool, as well as the Fantastic Four. However, there are rumors of Marvel collaborating with other studios in order to satisfy its fans.
