With "American Idol" season 14 nearing its premiere, the returning judges, Keith Urban, Harry Connick, Jr, and Jennifer Lopez reveal what viewers can expect when the Fox show comes back on TV.
"We've got a very unusual, eclectic group. I think there's a lot of artists in this group," Keith Urban shared to Extra during the long-running singing contest's red carpet event.
He added about the show's new contenders, "It's not just singers. It's people who are very individual."
What else should fans look forward to in January?
Harry Connick, Jr. also shared that there will be a noticeable difference this year.
"This year is different than last year because last year had a huge amount of talent," he said, "but this year the talent isn't only vocal but performing wise too."
According to the award-winning musician, more contestants are putting on their A-game this year with regards to their performances, which was somewhat lacking last year.
Jennifer Lopez, on the hand, is looking forward to "American Idol" season 14 for another reason.
"There's always new fun clothes to wear!" She told Extra about what kind of clothes to expect next season.
Speaking about style in general, she shared, "It doesn't matter where they're from. It can be from Top Shop or Forever 21. That's the definition of style to me. You find what it is you and you put it together. It doesn't matter if it's a designer label or just a regular store."
Keeping with its plan to change "American Idol" season 14 for the better, Big Machine Label Group President and CEO Scott Borchetta joined the Fox show as the in-house producer after Randy Jackson stepped down from the post. The music company will also be signing the next "Idol" winner.
"American Idol" season 14 will be premiering on January 7 on Fox.
