An amber alert has reportedly been issued for a four-year-old boy, Ricardo Lara, after his mother was found dead at a local business in Denton, according to CBS Local.
Denton Police have reportedly not been able to make contact with the boy’s father, 23-year-old Ricardo Martinez, who is a person of interest.
The young boy’s mother, who has been identified as 27-year-old Maria Isabel Romero Medina, was reportedly murdered inside an insurance agency on Saturday and was discovered by an employee inside the business before the amber alert was released, according to Fox News. It has reportedly not been revealed how Medina was killed.
The Dallas Morning News has reportedly quoted the police as saying that the boy’s mother and father had been in a relationship but were no longer seeing each other.
Denton police spokesman Shane Kizer reportedly stated that the boy was last seen Friday before the amber alert was issued over the weekend. The boy reportedly stayed with a babysitter or family while his mother was away, but the officer stated that it was not unusual for Medina to take her son to work, which is what could have happened when the boy went missing.
“Obvious this increases our concern for the welfare of the child,” Kizer told Fox News.
He added, “The initial investigation shows this is an apparent homicide.”
The boy is reportedly three feet tall, weighs 55 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes. Police have reportedly described his father as being 5 feet 5 inches tall and about 150 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
