Although rumors of Emma Watson and boyfriend Matthew Janney moving in together circulated last September, the young couple had just announced their shocking breakup.
According to the Daily Mail, a representative for the 24-year-old actress confirmed that the pair had an "amicable" split last month. However, they reportedly chose to remain friends.
Ironically, Watson had been in the middle of a social network frenzy a couple of weeks ago after she was presented with the British Style Icon award by One Direction member Harry Styles.
The Internet buzzed with fans of both celebrities asking them to start dating each other after the "Steal My Girl" crooner congratulated the "Harry Potter" actress in a rather flirty way.
Did this have anything to do with her breakup from her now ex-flame rugby player?
According to the Daily Mail, Watson and the 22-year-old Oxford student have been "often apart, because of her professional commitments and his studies," therefore making their relationship not so easy to handle.
She is currently in Beunos Aires, Brazil for the "Colonia Dignidad" filming. She will also be having a full schedule for promotions next year when her film with Ethan Hawke, "Regression," premieres.
Aside from her acting jobs, she has been doing a very good job as a UN Goodwill Ambassador for Women as well.
Janney, meanwhile, didn't look too put out about the breakup. He managed to help his rugby team get a massive win against Cambridge, 43-6, last Wednesday.
Could Harry Styles possibly become Emma Watson's next boyfriend now that she's single again?
Yahoo News doesn't think so.
"I don't date people who are famous, and I don't think it's fair that, all of a sudden, intimate details of their personal life are public as a direct result of me," she reportedly told Elle last March. "I wish I could protect them."
