A Superman reboot TV series is in the works with "Man of Steel" David Goyer involved, according to a report.
The Superman reboot TV series is rumored to focus on the planet Krypton, before Superman came to Earth. According to a report David Goyer is tapped to continue his involvement in the Superman franchise, previously writing the script for "Man of Steel."
The Krypton TV show could follow through on the ongoing Batman reboot on TV. "Gotham" recently wrapped up its first season, and has received positive reviews from critics and audience.
"Gotham" is the brainchild of Bruno Heller, with a plot revolving around the city before the Dark Knight; Bruce Wayne is still a child mentored by Alfred Pennyworth, and Gordon still an officer of GCPD. Villain origins for Catwoman, Penguin, Two Face, and Riddler are being developed.
The success of "Gotham" is expected to taper off on the new Krypton TV series, though the details are yet to be confirmed, including the TV company to release the pilot. It is reported the SyFy Channel is in first talks for the release.
David Goyer's involvement in the Krypton TV show is expected, offering commendable adaptation for "Man of Steel." There is also plenty of material to explore with Superman's home planet Krypton; aside from the Kryptonian lifestyle portrayed on film and TV, the graphic novels "World of Krypton" and "For the Man Who Has Everything" could be first-source for the TV adaptation.
Goyer worked on TV projects, one adapted from a DC graphic novel ("Constantine"). Since Krypton was destroyed immediately after Kal-el was released by his parents, it's almost certain the Superman reboot TV series won't have DC's icon character involved on the episodes (bleedingcool.com).
Superman's parents could replace their son on the forefront, though; "Man of Steel" proved it doable. Stay tuned for updates on the Krypton TV series as they come.
