For the design and display, the Asus Zenfone 4 has a plastic back with rounded edges and corners and a metallic band below the screen, which is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It's a TFT of 4i nches with a modest resolution of 480x800pixels and 233ppi, It weighs 115 grams and has dimensions of 124.4×61.4 x11.2 mm.

The Motorola Moto E has a curved back, round corners, a rear camera in the center, and the Motorola logo below. Its display is at 4.3 inches protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, and a resolution is 540x960pixels with 256ppi. Its dimensions are 124.8×64.8×12.3 mm, and weighs 142 grams.

In terms of hardware and OS, the Asus Zenfone 4 has a dual core Cortex-A7 processos clocked at 1.2GHz, but it uses an Intel Atom Z2520 chipset and a PowerVR SGX544MP2 GPU, while the Motorola Moto E comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 chipset which supports an Adreno 302 GPU. The Zenfone 4 comes with v4.3 (Jelly Bean) and now it runs on v4.4.2 (KitKat), while the Moto E comes with v4.4.2 (KitKat) and received the 4.4.3 (KitKat) update.

For battery specs, the Asus Zenfone 4 has a 1200/1600mAh battery, while the Motorola Moto E has a 1980 mAh non-removable battery.

The Asus Zenfone 4 cost $126 on Amazon, while the Motorola Moto E is $6 less than its rival.
