Which of these devices is the better purchase? The iPhone 4S or the Lenovo A859.
For the design and display, Apple's iPhone 4S has a 3.5 inches display which can render a resolution of 640x960pixels and has a pixel density of 330ppi. The screen is covered by oleophobic coating and Corning Gorilla Glass, and its dimensions are 115.2×58.6×9.3 mm and weighs 140 grams. The Lenovo A859 is 23 grams heavier and a lot taller at 142×72.5×9.2 mm than its rival. It's display is 5 inches IPS LCD with 16M colors, a resolution of 720x1280pixels and 294ppi.
In terms of hardware and OS, the iPhone 4S has a 1 dual core Cortex A9 processor thats is based on an Apple A5 chipset. It also uses a PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU, which matches with 512MB of RAM. It runs on the iOS5, which was upgraded to iOS 7.1.2, which will receive iOS 8 and its internal memory is at 8/16/32/64 GB. The Lenovo A859 runs on the Android v4.2 (Jelly Bean) and features a 1.3GHz quad core Cortex A7, that is paired with a Mediatek MT6582 chipset and a Mali-400MP2 GPU. It supports 1GB of RAM and has 8GB of internal memory, that can be expandable up to 32GB.
For the battery and camera specs, the iPhone 4S has non removable Li-Po battery with a capacity of 1432mAh that last 8 hours of talktime on 3G and 14 hours of talk time on 2G. The Lenovo A859 has a 2250mAh Li-Po battery, but it offers only 10 hours of talk time.
Both smartphones have 8MP rear cameras, but the iPhone 4S has more features than its rival: autofocus, LED flash, 1/3.2” sensor size and 1.4 µm pixel size, touch focus, geo tagging, panorama, HDR, face detection and video recording at 1080p@30fps. It also has a VGA front camera which records at 480p@30fps and supports videocalling over WiFi and 3G. The Lenovo A859 has autofocus, LED flash and geo tagging and has another 1.6MP front camera.
The iPhone 4S 16GB cost $338, while the Lenovo A859 is around $220.
