BlackBerry Classic Release Date. As announced earlier the Blackberry Classic unveiled on December 17 in what could be a turnaround for the Canadian phone maker. While the Blackberry Classic Q20 is right for the right person, a question that lurks is 'Will the Blackberry Release be enough for Blackberry to keep the company afloat amid strong rivals like Apple and Samsung?'

While the verdict on Blackberry Classic will capture the senses of Blackberry fans with its finesse, full QWERTY keyboard, rapid browsing power, better navigation and enhanced messaging, the Q20 is no mainstream smartphone. On the other hand, business users who consider the Blackberry QWERTY to be the final word in keyboards, the Blackberry Classic Q20 is the way to go, say reports.

Blackberry CEO John Chen speaking at the Blackberry Classic Release Date Wednesday morning at a New York City event said that the Classic is a revamped version of the company's classic Bold and an improvement on Blackberry's old smartphone technology.

"Everything you know about BlackBerry has been upgraded," Globalnews.ca quoted Chen as saying. "We could capture new markets and new users with the Classic," Chen said in an earlier interview.

Chen who has been at the helm of Blackberry handset division to restructure finance and sales is hoping for a turnaround after launching the Blackberry Passport and the Blackberry Classic.

Blackberry fans will also notice some changes to the original Bold-design with the Classic showing a 3.5" diagonal touch screen, a 22hr battery duration and an 8MP camera clearly below the 13MP market standard for mobile cameras. You can't complain with a browser that runs thrice as fast as the Bold 9900.

Blackberry said on its product webpage that Blackberry Classic is a brand new smartphone built on the success of the iconic Blackberry heritage.

The Classic was available for pre-order ahead of the Wednesday launch, but demand for the Classic is strong and new orders could be delayed. And the Blackberry Classic comes with a price tag of $499 contract free.
