"The Fault In Our Stars" actor Ansel Elgort's sexual preference became a hot topic thanks to his an upcoming role as a gay man in a new biopic.
The "Divergent" star, who graduated from the LaGuardia High School of the Performing Arts, will be playing the Texan pianist Van Cliburn in a movie of the same name. According to Deadline, Elgort would be a perfect match for the role. Not only can he play the piano but he also produces electronic music as a DJ.
Rumors about his sexuality were further flamed when the 20-year-old hunk recreated the poster for "The Fault In Our Stars" with co-star Nat Wolff filling in for Shailene Woodley.
He posted the image on Instagram earlier this year.
Meanwhile, "The Fault In Our Stars" actor Ansel Elgort finally addressed the gay rumors on Thursday.
"Just in case it isn't clear... I like girls. A lot," the actor and DJ posted on his Twitter account to make sure that his fans know his preference.
He quickly followed up that post with another awesome tweet about sexuality.
"Also let me say if I was gay I wouldn't hide it," he continued.
He added, "Being gay or straight isn't bad or good it just IS. U are who you are. Be true to yourself."
The New Yorker was - until last August - in a long-term relationship with his high school sweetheart, Violetta Komyshan. However, the couple broke up due to Elgort's hectic schedule to his rising career, according to US Weekly.
He appeared in the Stephen King thriller remake "Carrie" alongside Chloe Grace Moretz before joining Shaleine Woodley and Theo James in "Divergent."
His popularity really skyrocketed, however, when he took on the role of Augustus Waters in "The Fault In Our Stars."
