A 19-year-old woman has reportedly been charged with murder after a little 5-year-old boy was found dead, “intentionally covered with snow,” in upstate New York, according to Fox News.

Investigation of the case continues as It is still unclear why the woman, Tiffany VanAlstyne, killed her little cousin.

The woman reportedly strangled the boy, Kenneth White, to death before tossing his body and burying him in snow. She then reportedly called the cops to claim the child had been abducted from the Albany-area home in New York, authorities stated, according to the NY Daily News.

“It’s sinful and it’s sad,” Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple told reporters at a news briefing.

Tiffany VanAlstyne has reportedly been charged with second degree murder after the boy was found dead as her story “started to not add up,” Apple stated. The 19-year-old woman is reportedly the daughter of Kenneth legal guardian, Brenda VanAlstyne.

The boy’s 4-year-old sister Christine and his twin sister, Cheyenne, were reportedly unharmed. Authorities reportedly don’t believe the other two children witnessed the murder of their little brother.

“You know we caught some contradictions in a few different statements that were taken so a few flags had popped. It’s a horrific case. I mean, we lost a 5-year-old child, a senseless death who left behind a twin sister and a four-year-old sister,” Apple told reporters at a news conferred Friday morning.

The little boy’s biological mother, Christine White, who lives in Amsterdam, NY and his father, Jason White, who lives in western Massachusetts, are reportedly in the Berne area helping with the investigation, cops stated.

The boy’s school reportedly issued a statement after the boy was found dead as well.

“This is a difficult time for all of us, but I know that our students, staff and community will draw together to work through this tragedy together,” the superintendent of the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Central wrote.
