Kiefer Sutherland is no longer interested in doing a sequel to "24: Live Another Day," at least for now anyway.
In a report from TVLine, Kiefer Sutherland said that he's not interested in playing Jack Bauer again.
"We had set out to do 12 episodes [of Live Another Day] to end the show and deal with some of the past history of the show," he said. "It was also an irresistible opportunity to go shoot in England. So for all of those reasons it made sense to do that last season."
However, there's still hope for Jack Bauer fans.
"I think I said the same thing at the end of Season 8," he said. "So I would hate to be held to that."
This is quite a reversal for Kiefer Sutheland as he said that he's open to do a sequel to "24: Live Another Day."
According to New Zealand's Channel 24 website, "24: Live Another Day" cast Kiefer Sutherland is at odds over playing the character again while also obsessed with the idea that there are more stories to tell with Jack Bauer.
"I'm missing Jack already. I can never say never, my biggest fear about Jack was, 'Can we produce the standard the fans have been sued to?' I still feel there are more stories to tell," he said.
"If the story was right I couldn't say no to making 24 in Scotland. I have strong Scottish roots so I can't deny that it would be special for me, I have Scottish ancestry on both my grandparents' sides so I do feel a connection to the country," the actor said. "It has a great medieval feel to it with the castles and all the old architecture. I think that could make for a really dark setting."
Fox executives earlier said that they are interested to bring back Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer for the sequel of "24: Live Another Day" or bring the whole show to the big screen.
