Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) had not seen that bullet coming. In fact, no one had seen it. "The Walking Dead" midseason 5 finale shocked its viewers when one of the unexpected characters to say good-bye was not immune to farewell.

[Contains Spoiler!] It was another shocking episode for TWD last November 30, when viewers thought that Carol (Melissa McBride) and Beth (Emily Kinney) would be reunited with the group. Things went smoothly; the exchanges of hostages went well. No tensions in both parties were felt until Officer Dawn (Christine Woods) demanded for Noah (Tyler James Williams) to stay in the hospital.

Noah agreed, but Beth didn't want to allow it. She moved closer to Officer Dawn, and said, "Now I get it." Then, we heard a shot gun, and Beth slowly fell down while Officer Dawn saying, 'I didn't mean that.' But it was too late to regret; damage has been done and Daryl has already pulled the trigger to return the favor to her.

"That was such a body blow. I really didn't see it coming. I had absolutely no idea and I think everyone was reeling from that one," Andrew Lincoln told Entertainment Weekly when asked about his emotions on saying goodbye to Beth Greene, played by Emily Kinney.

Norman Reedus told The Hollywood Reporter when asked how the death of Beth will affect Daryl, "I think it puts him into a depression."

Beth might not be the bravest one among the group, but surely she had inspired the group with her song and determination. Her death would, as we can see, affect the group as they move forward.

"I think Rick is one of these people that can partition and put it aside and actually use it for fuel to push him and the rest of the group forward. I think he has to because everybody is yet again lost. We have a reunion and we're back together, but we're lost," Lincoln said when asked by Entertainment Weekly on what Beth's loss has to do with the group moving forward.

Norman Reedus' character Daryl Dixon got closed with Beth Greene after the governor attacked the prison, leaving the group separated for a period of time before got reunited again at the Terminus but without Beth.

Beth was thought to be kidnapped during the zombie attack in a chapel and Daryl failed to get her back that night. That's why "The Walking Dead" viewers might be thinking that the midseason finale would be the time for the group, particularly Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan), to be with Beth again, but it turned out differently and unexpectedly.

"Beth's death is like Sophia's; she sings songs and was always hopeful. Of course, she tried to kill herself at one point, but besides that, for the most part, she was this sweet songbird, and that represents a part of humanity that you don't see anymore. So when you put that candle out, it goes dark for everyone," Norman Reedus said as published on The Hollywood Reporter.

The Walking Dead Season 5 returns on February 8, 2015. Watch the trailer:
