Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone fans have started a petition to keep Andrew in the "Spider-Man" movies following reports that the actor will be axed from the franchise.
According to International Business Times, "This comes after a series of Sony's hacked emails revealed that Garfield reportedly has been ousted from the "Spider-Man" series. It has also been reported that Marvel is planning to take over the franchise and they want to re-cast Spider-Man."
"The petition has been launched on Change.org, a popular site where people generally initiate a movement for various causes. More than 10,000 people have signed the appeal, where Garfield is described as a 'great Peter Parker and Spider-Man.'
Meanwhile. previous reports hinted that a resurrection of some sort will happen to Gwen Stacey (played by Emma Stone) as Peter Parker's lady love wiill be brought back to life in a form of a clone created by the next flick's villain- The Jackal.
The speculation which made its rounds on the interweb is based on a similar comic book plot. No official confirmation has been made about the said possibility.
In a previous report, iO9 noted that should Marvel take over the "Spider-Man" franchise, it will veer away from any romantic angles.
"The other sad part of this is that what Marvel are purportedly looking for, according to Latino Review, sounds like the kind of situation Garfield's take on the character is in post TASM 2: An already established Spider-Man without a romantic situation being the biggest focus of his life (thanks to the other best part of the Amazing Reboot, Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy shuffling off the movie's mortal coil at the climax of of the film - at the cost of a more interesting film, to boot)."
Fans have grown to love Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone on and off screen romance. And as for playing Spidey, most would agree that Andrew has been the best Peter Parker so far.
