“Big Eyes” star Amy Adams was supposed to make a guest appearance on the “Today” show earlier this week before her interview got canceled, according to E! News.
The 40-year-old actress and the producers of the “Today” show reportedly had some conflict when she reportedly expressed that she didn’t want to discuss how the leaked Sony emails revealed a salary disparity between her and her “American Hustle” co-stars, Bradley Cooper and Christian Bale, according to the NY Daily News.
“I expressed that I was uncomfortable. I said I would rather not add my voice to this conversation. But it was clear they were drawing a hard line. That this would be part of the conversation,” explained Amy Adams.
She added, “I walked away from the conversation and went up to the room to do the interview. I assumed they were going to ask me about the [Sony hacking]. And I was prepared for that, to whatever degree I was prepared.”
The star of the new Tim Burton film reportedly stated that she still doesn’t understand why they decided to pull the interview.
“I was confused and definitely frustrated,” stated Amy Adams.
The “Today” show also addressed the incident with the actress.
“As a news program, the ‘Today’ show doesn’t allow guests to put restrictions on interviews. In this case, after hours of discussion we felt uncomfortable with the demand being made and we determined the best course of action for all parties involved was to cancel the interview,” the show said in a statement to Confidenti@l.
Sources reportedly stated that the actress “freaked out” and “got aggressive” with the show’s producers after she was told that she would be asked about the Sony hacking scandal.
“I feel like I don’t have trouble standing up for myself. This was a situation I chose to speak for myself,” stated Adams.
