Game-maker Cards Against Humanity LLC reportedly purchased a Birch Island in St. George Lake, which they named “Hawaii 2,” according to the Portland Press Herald.

The company responsible for Cards Against Humanity reportedly bought the 6-acre private island located in Maine for about $200,000 on October 31 from the Bedke/Fox Family Trust, according to Waldo County records.

The company reportedly sent certificates to 250,000 participates in a holiday fundraising campaign it had organized, granting each of them exclusive license to 1 square foot of the island.

“You may name your square foot of land. You may use the entire private island for passive, noncommercial, non-motorized recreational activities. You may tell people at parties that you own part of a private island,” the certificate reads.

The holiday campaign was reportedly named “Ten Days or Whatever of Kwanzaa,” and asked participants for $15 in exchange for 10 “mystery gifts” announced over 10 days, according to the Associated Press. The square foot of the island was reportedly the final gift from the Cards Against Humanity company.

Other gifts reportedly included custom cards and stickers that have curse words on it.

It’s not surprising that the idea to purchase the island started off as a joke, according to the company’s blog. The company reportedly stated that it joked a couple years ago that it could have bought a small private island with the money it donated to charity so they decided to this year.
